BECTA Compliant Web Filter

The following table explains how CensorNet™ complies with the BECTA requirements:

BECTA states: CensorNet™

There must be telephone and web-based support for all aspects of the service.

Telephone support from 9am-5:30pm Mon-Fri excluding public holidays.
Live Interaction support via real-time Web chat (limited after hours support available)
E-mail Helpdesk (limited after hours support available).

The product must block 100 per cent of illegal material identified by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) Child Abuse Images and Content (CAIC) URL List.

CensorNet™ includes the IWF URL list in its database, updated daily, and also has a category for both Child Pornography and CAIC.

The product must be capable of blocking 90 per cent of inappropriate content in each of the following categories: Pornographic, adult, tasteless or offensive material, Violence (including weapons and bombs), Racist, extremist and hate material, Illegal drug taking and promotion Criminal skills and software piracy.

CensorNet™ has received the Checkmark Premium award for Web Filtering by West Coast Labs. This is the highest possible award and indicates that CensorNet successfully blocked 100% of the URLs during extensive testing.

Furthermore, CensorNet™ has categories within its database for all of the specified subjects, updated daily.
In addition, CensorNet has multi-lingual real-time raters for:

• Alcohol
• Anonymous Proxies
• Pornography
• Violence
• Weapons
• Gambling

It must be possible to request (or make) amendments to the blocked content.

Customers may submit amendments to our Category Server database and through the software Control Panel they can override any URL, add additional URL's to block and manage the filtering policies to suit their requirements.
